How to Be Successful in Housing is a guidebook that aims to help readers as they transition from a period of homelessness into housing. I was hired on as the illustrator and Designer for the guidebook. Our goal was to create a guidebook that felt inviting and playful. The project began as a collaboration with CoLAB Arts and Mission First Housing Group in Edison, NJ. Lane Michael Stanley was selected to be the 2023-2024 Resident Artist at Mission First Housing Group where he identified the needs of residents to overcome the emotional obstacles they faced during the transition from homelessness into housing. After identifying the needs of the residents he wrote a guidebook covering topics such as physical health, navigating a lease, working with a case manager, and more. We wanted the guidebook to be as accessible as possible. That’s why it is free to download in both English & Spanish as well as Audio & Video versions that can all be found here.
